The Des Plaines Police Department and the law enforcement community in Illinois join together each year to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois. The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is the largest fundraising group in the State of Illinois for Special Olympics. Last year law enforcement throughout the state raised 4 million dollars for Special Olympics. The Des Plaines Police Department started looking at ways to raise funds in 2005, and came up with the idea of an Irish Fest around Saint Patrick’s Day. The first year the event was held at Maryville Academy with just over 100 people attending. In 2009 Irish Fest was moved to St. Zachary Church in Des Plaines due to the crowd being over 550! Today, Irish Fest continues to grow due to the same philosophy we had when the event was started in 2005. Offer great food, great entertainment, and great drinks in a casual environment for an AMAZING cause. We hope you can join us this year for the areas earliest St. Patrick’s Day celebration, the Des Plaines Police Department’s Irish Fest 2017!
Don’t forget to bring money along to participate in the 50/50 raffles. We will also have Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympic T-Shirts and hats on sale. Finally, we will be having a raffle with 100% of the profits going to the Special Olympics. Come show your support for the Des Plaines Police Department and Special Olympics Illinois while having a great night out.
